Ariel Magin Week 3- Chelsea vs Liverpool

Tomorrow is a huge game for Chelsea, my favorite club. We face off against last year’s champions, Liverpool, in our second game of the season. After having the most active transfer market possibly in Europe and definitely in the premier league, Chelsea seems to be a real contender for the league this year. Although we brought in so many great young players such as Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, etc. the team needs time to gel and get into a rhythm. The Liverpool game on Sunday will be a test of how far along the team chemistry has come. The win against Brighton earlier this week wasn’t the most convincing win, so we are going to need to step up our game. I really hope that Christian Pulisic, an American player,  will play this weekend. After sustaining an injury in the FA Cup Final last season, his prospects for a return this Sunday seem a bit slim. I really hope he plays as he is one of my favorite players and could surely win us the game. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to watch the game live as I’ll be at temple, but I’ll make sure to record it and watch it later.
I have high hopes for Chelsea this season. If we don’t bring home some silverware then it would be a major disappointment and the board might lose faith in Frank Lampard, the manager, former player, and club legend. Our biggest worry however isn’t our attack or midfield, which have the potential to be one of the deadliest in Europe, but our defense, specifically the goalkeeper. With the acquisition of Thiago Silva from PSG on a free transfer and Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, our backline has been greatly strengthened. I have great confidence in our defenders and their capabilities. What I worry about is the keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. I know he has the talent to be one of the best keepers in the world, but last season he was absolutely horrific. We have already bought a new keeper, but I want Kepa to regain his confidence and prove all the haters wrong.
