Back to school! No, I’m not talking about the 1986 Rodney Dangerfield movie, which I highly recommend watching, I'm talking about our long-awaited physical return to school. After 6 months of not being in the high school, I imagine that it will be a bit surreal when I first walk into the building come Monday. I am excited to finally go back and take that one step closer to normal life.
I remember in vivid detail when we first heard in Zinman hall that school would be done virtually indefinitely. I thought that this would last two months max, boy was I wrong. What’s great about going to school is that I don’t have to stare at my computer all-day-everyday. The strain on our eyes is immense and by the end of the virtual school day, we are absolutely finished.
Another thing I’m excited about is the eventual return of school sports. This may seem way out there, but by spring, and maybe even winter, I can see us taking to the fields again. In a time such as this, physical activity is the best way to get rid of the blues. Whenever I’m down about the pandemic, exercise picks my mood right up.
I have a feeling that the first day of school, and probably the first week, will be quite hectic. People will not follow the rules properly, not intentionally, complications involving classes may arise, and any cases of coronavirus will bring everything to a screeching halt.
This return to school and the reopening of everything is great for the public’s morale and will definitely help with kids that are down about the pandemic. Having something to look forward to is a great feeling and with the return to school, and gradual return to normalcy, we have plenty to look forward to.
Funny you are excited about sports considering you sold your soul to a club team...
