Chaya Brenner week 1 - Sweetest Article Ever

So for Gov, we’re doing current events every week and when I was looking for a good story to talk about, I stumbled across this article about the oldest couple ever. I originally saw it when I was looking at the Happy Broadcast Instagram account, my favorite profile ever, and I immediately fell in love with their story. They are so freaking cute, apparently, it’s their 79th anniversary this year and they just broke the Guinness world record for the oldest married couple. Their combined age is 214, soon to be 215 years. I think it’s cool that they’re so old and stuff, but it’s even cooler that after all this time they still love each other.

With all the sadness in the world, it can be hard to remember all of the light and love. But seeing this couple just makes me so happy. According to one article, they’ve never even thought about getting a divorce or separating. To see love that’s so pure and withstands all tests of time is just so beautiful. It makes me feel all warm and soft inside to see the pictures of them together holding each other close.

To top all of this off, when they got married their families disapproved. When they wanted to get married, they did it in secret with only their closest friends. They say their marriage, though a problem at first, brought together their families in the end. Their love is so magical and powerful and inspiring. This may seem like a fairy tale ending and honestly, it is, their love is definitely a story for the ages.

Kind of a big question, but do you think true love exists?

  2. How sweet! I feel like I only hear about relationships like these in fairy tales. It's so comforting to know that there are relationships out there that truly embody the idea of living "happily ever after." And yes, haha, I'd like to believe that true love exists :')

  3. Aww this is so cute! I agree with Sienna for sure that this sounds like a fairy tale. It is especially so sweet that they got married despite their families disproval. I am not sure if I think true love exists but this story for sure allows me to believe people will meet the one when it is meant to be. Someone make this a Disney movie!
