Liann Rozenberg Week 2 - Drive-in Movies!

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went to a drive-in movie. It was at a swap shop in Fort Lauderdale, in a huge parking lot. It was super interesting to see the way that everything was set up. There were 12 big screens and you would drive up and park in front of the screen of the movie you wanted to watch. The sound for each movie was on a different radio channel, and when you buy your tickets, they would tell you which radio station to tune into. The tickets were cheaper than a regular movie theatre - $7 per person. The movie times are at 8:30 and 10:30, and movies of all genres are played. There was a whole snack bar with a variety of foods and drinks.

Among coronavirus reopenings, Riverside drive-in stands tall - Los Angeles Times

When we arrived at the swap shop, there was a long line, but it went by really fast because there were many ticket booths. We parked the car at a scary movie and we were so amazed by how the sound worked with the radio. Within 5 minutes, we decided it was a little too scary, so we moved to a different screen where Grown Ups played. We went to buy popcorn and mango slushies, which were really good. We then parked backward so we could sit in the trunk. It was an amazing experience and we enjoyed it so much; we will definetly be going back! Our parents were also super interested once we told them about it because they used to go to drive-ins in Israel. I recommend going to a drive-in for a super fun and Corona safe experience!

How would you feel about going to a drive-in movie?

  1. This sounds so cool! I heard that drive-in movies have become more popular again since the spread of COVID-19. I've personally never been to see a drive-in movie before (or at least I don't remember seeing any), so I'd definitely be up to trying this! It's nice to know that they're being shown at Fort Lauderdale :)

  2. Aw that sounds incredible.I would totally love to try this one day. It is incredible how Drive In Movies are back in style from the 50's and that there are locations close to Boca Raton.

  3. This is so cute!! I've always wanted to try a drive-in movie and reading about your experience makes me want to go to one even more. I didn't realize drive-ins had you tune into a radio station (even though it literally makes sense lol) so that's really cool too!!

  4. Wow I actually looked up a drive in movie place at the beginning of the summer but I never ended up going. They remind me of that one scene from Grease haha.

  5. I actually went to the Hard Rock Stadium and attended one of their outdoor movies!! They have the drive in option as well, but my family and I decided since we are a big group it would better just to reserve one of the couches and enjoy the movie that way :))
