Josh Rosenblatt Week 2 - The Next Greatest Team

The Miami Dolphins are going to be the greatest team in the NFL.  There I said it.  Maybe not this year, or next, but by the end of the 2022 season I fully expect the Dolphins to make a solid run at a championship.  They have the youngest team in the league, having only one player over 30 years old in Ryan Fitzpatrick - this year's starting quarterback.  It is important for this veteran player to act as the leader of the team, to guide these young players into becoming stars.  Last season the team had five wins and eleven losses.  While frustrating to go through as a fan, it was all worth it when they selected quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick of this year’s draft.  He is the key to the Dolphins success in years to come.  Not only did the fins draft Tua, they also drafted multiple, big offensive lineman to protect him, and added some key defensive players in free agency.

As for this season, I have very low expectations for the team.  As mentioned before it is a very young group of players with little professional experience.  We are still in a development phase, just as we were last season.  Head coach Brian Flores has gotten a lot of praise by getting five wins last season with a team only expected to get three total.  This year’s roster has improved tremendously, but the fins also have one of the toughest schedules in the league.  They play the NFC South where every team is a playoff contender as well as the AFC West which has the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.  Within our own division, things have improved.  The Patriots lost Tom Brady, and are no longer a major threat to win the division.  The Jets… well they're the Jets.  They’re never going to be a threat to any team as long as Adam Gase is their head coach.  The best team in the division this year are the Buffalo Bills.  I would be shocked if they find a way to miss the playoffs, not because they are good, but because the rest of the division is weaker.  The Dolphins’ record will improve from last season.  My prediction: 7 wins and 9 losses, but this year doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, it's all about the future.
