Full return to school. We got the news this week that next week seniors will be going into school every day, except for G days of course. I was ecstatic when I found out and that I would no longer have days where I’m just at home on my computer. The excitement of the seniors, however, was met by a bit of discontent from the rest of the grades. I heard some students in the lower grades were upset that we get to go every day and they don’t. Although they are also going into school more often now, I think 2/3 days. I understand their frustration, but this is our last year in the school so if any grade were to deserve the extra day, it would be us. Now if I wasn’t in 12th grade I’d have a different opinion, but don’t tell the younger students that.
The full return is great as just waking up early and getting ready for the day rather than going to class in pajamas does wonders for mental health. This great news has been accompanied by further exciting news. Sports are returning very soon, I believe soccer begins in close to a fortnight. My fingers smell like cat food right now. I can’t wait for the first practice and eventually the first game. My soccer outside of school started months ago, yet school soccer is so exciting because you get to play with your friends from school, obviously. I heard that Noah is looking forward to getting megged a million times. Some news pertaining to the soccer team, if you had the luxury of watching Zach in action between the sticks last year, then I have some news for you. He is not playing goalkeeper this year, or so we believe, as Josh’s brother is assuming that position. Zach will make his triumphant return to the pitch and we shall see if he’ll score before Noah this season…
With the return of sort-of-normal school and sort-of-normal school sports, it seems our lives are getting to be sort-of-normal which is sort-of-amazing news.

Hi Ariel,
ReplyDeleteI dont want to embarrass you but I think you forgot to delete the part about the cat food on your fingers. Maybe it was a glitch in your computer. For some reason it shows that the sentence was crossed out but not fully deleted. Just letting you know so that you can go in and edit it before everyone sees this blog post. You're welcome!
Best regards,
Zoey
Hi Zoey,
DeleteI intended to write as I want to be honest with my readers. At that exact moment, my fingers smelled of cat food. Thanks for your interest and consideration.
Best regards,
Ariel
What is "megged"? Also, I LOVE that you put the strikethrough. That cracked me up!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you guys are going to be in every day, and yes - eventually everyone will be in every day, but y'all definitely deserve to be the first.
I totally agree that going back to school full time (sort of) is exciting. But do you also find yourself really stressed about it? After all the time at home going out everyday and being around people for long periods of time can be really nerve wracking. I think that's really just because it feels so foreign now that we've all been kept apart for so long. Either way I love your positivity!
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting we get to play soccer, but hopefully things will be better and we will be able to go into school also. Maybe this year you will score a goal.
ReplyDeleteI agree. No longer having to learn at home is so much better because we get to see our friends, and it is just easier. I am also so excited for sports, especially basketball, since the girls team will have games.
ReplyDeleteI contemplated going back into school, but alas I will keep blaming it on my schedule. It just simply doesn't work with the in-person learning. So, until there are better circumstances, I'll be at home...
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for the soccer season. Not looking forward to staying home for a month but it's worth it.
