Joe Rogan Podcast Check It Out! - Noah Rubin - Week 8

“Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night - all day!” That’s how every Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) starts, followed by the theme music and then Joe introducing his guest. In this blog post, I hope to convince you to listen to the Joe Rogan podcast. Joe is a genius - hear me out. He embraces the fact that he knows “nothing about everything”. He knows a little bit more than the average joe (no pun intended) on every topic - knows a lot more about DMT, Elk Meat, the carnivore diet, the Moon Landing, Bow Hunting, Martial Arts, working out, and Comedy than anyone else, but that’s beside the point. Most of all, Joe knows how to interview. Joe Rogan has guests on his podcasts that come from all walks of life - veterans, comedians, politicians, actors, scientists, entrepreneurs, singers, researchers, professors, actors, trolls, athletes, conspiracy theorists, and everyone in between.

His podcasts range from 2 hours of nonstop laughing to 5 hours of intense concentration and thoughtfulness. Oftentimes, I go into a JRE thinking that it’s not a topic of interest - when he has fighters on for example - but I find myself deeply interested in their volunteer work abroad, dedication to the sport, or life advice. Similarly, I always get excited when he has a celebrity that I follow because I love hearing them speak for 4 hours on end - you get to know what they really think - and most of the time, they are great people despite what the tabloids say about them. On the other hand, I’m intrigued when he has a scientist, astrophysicist, phycologist, paleontologist, explorer, historian, or entrepreneur on just as much - I’ve sat for hours learning about ranges of topics from white rice vs brown rice, what our place in the universe is, how we make decisions, could we make a real Jurassic Park, how to hitchhike, what are the roots of Santa Claus, and how to spend an hour on one cup of coffee, respectively. Joe even regularly fact-checks his guests by yelling at his assistant Jammie to ‘pull that up’ a news article on their in-studio monitor. Even more so, I’m excited when he has obscure guests and people I’ve never heard of - sometimes these are the best podcasts. I love hearing from experts in their respective fields and learning something new or getting a laugh.

I have never seen anything like the Joe Rogan podcast. Nothing is ever able to be this funny, serious, interesting, engaging, educational, and informative as the JRE. And Joe is perfect for the job. He can drive a conversation when he’s interviewing someone awkward, even offer them a drink and a smoke in the case of Elon Musk. Joe can be attentive and thoughtful when listening to and challenging the thoughts of world-class scientists - not afraid to speak up for the audience when they get too high in the sky. He can be hilariously funny and go with the flow with actors and comedians. He can challenge extremists and conspiracy theories - many times by laughing at them and asking Jammie to pull up a conflicting story. He can press politicians, famously supporting Bernie and then Trump - informed on issues and a true 21st-century populist. He is perfect for the job. In addition to all of this, he has kept himself the man he has always been - even as he has gained millions of followers and a $100 million contract. He doesn't read comments or hate, he speaks his mind and is possibly the only uncancelable personality, Period. I’d highly recommend his podcast. Luckily for you - there are over 1500 episodes to catch up on. Some other podcasts I listen to are Louder with Crowder, the Ben Shapiro Show, Timcast, Lew Later, Michael Knowles, and The Babylon Bee. Let me know if you have any suggestions - I’m all ears.

  1. I don't like Joe Rogan personally, because of some things he's done in his past. That being said, this sounds like a fascinating podcast and I will definitely check it out! I'm a big fan of the podcast "Revisionist History" by Malcolm Gladwell. Other than that, I don't listen to many. I usually save them for long car trips to visit my daughter in Gainesville :-)

  2. Joe Rogan recently signed the biggest podcast deal ever with Spotify, and I think when I shift from Apple Music to Spotify, I'll begin the JRE! Those topics you mentioned sound super interesting and I already have discussions about many, so it will be cool to hear another perspective
