Anyone who knows me knows that I have been closely following the theme parks since Universal reopened in June and Disney in July. At first I was just interested in seeing how they would operate during the pandemic, but then I realized that things were changing every day. At first most changes revolved around masks. Neck gaiters were banned from Disney first and then Universal and then both parks began hiring employees with the sole purpose of enforcing the wearing of masks throughout the park. Both companies have also begun spacing out parties on the rides as well as cleaning the ride regularly throughout the day.
I’ve gotten my information from many sources, but my favorite is a youtube channel called TheTimTracker. Tim lives in Orlando and has been attending the theme parks for years and recording it on his youtube channel. He has been very cautious going back to the parks since they reopened as he has a half year old son at home, but has been very good at displaying what it would be like to go at this time.

As for me, I wouldn’t hesitate to go right now. From the research I’ve done it isn’t too big of a risk to go if you are being mindful of your surroundings. Both parks are operating at below 25% capacity, so the likelihood of getting to do all the rides you want in minimal time compared to how it used to be. I think that we have all been living under stress of this virus and getting to go experience the parks and have some fun is something that we all could use. I doubt I will end up going to the parks in 2020 as even without a pandemic the end of the year is one of the busiest times of the year in general. Hopefully I will get to go in 2021.
Anyone wanna come?
You bring up some interesting points here. I want to be able to go the parks soon. Hopefully, my parents will give me the "all clear" ASAP. Until then I'll have to wait.
ReplyDeleteI agree, we all need sources of fun. The pandemic sucks and I think having outlets to do fun things is very important. The overwhelming restrictions are also awful. Hopefully we go back in full capacity soon. Maybe even on a shabbaton?
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny to watch you remember the map of universal in your mind when we were talking about this. I'm less upset about the parks in general and much more upset about the Shabbaton...
