Sarah Louis Week 5-The Most Magical Place on Earth

The Most Magical Place on Earth

From Broadway, airline, cruise, cities, state, country, and school shutdowns, Coronavirus affected all aspects of society. One of the most significant and saddest shutdowns, in my opinion, was the closure of all Disney Amusement Parks all over the world. It is crazy to think that the only time the Disney Parks closed before this was during 9/11, Hurricanes, and JFK's assassination. Seeing this symbol of joy closed down represented just how joy was being taken away with the coronavirus for everyone.

Personally, when I read about the Disney closures, I knew it was necessary but felt a pang of sadness in my heart. It is such a happy place that has been a core part of my childhood and seeing it close was disheartening.

Fast forward a few months to July 11, Disney was finally going to reopen in Florida with mask protocols in place, social distancing, and safety measures. Some rules implemented required guests to be stationary when eating and drinking because people were using eating as an excuse to walk around without a mask. Another interesting area Disney created was a relaxation station where people would have a chance to take off their mask as a Florida summer is typically brutal and temperatures could rise to the 90's or even 100's.

Would I personally go to Disney right now? Probably not. Although CDC measures are in place, I feel as if standing in line and even going on rides with others would promote close contact and increase the risk to contract the virus. Maybe in a couple of months, I would consider taking a trip to the most magical place on earth, but not right now.

Though, I cannot wait to finally return to Disney and go on fun rides and eat incredible foods and enjoy the Disney experience. Would you feel comfortable taking a trip to Disney right now?

  1. I understand why you wouldn't want to go to Disney. I wouldn't either there is too much risk.

  2. In my opinion, it's sad that it closed, but i feel like it was worse when other things closed, but that might just be because I haven't been there since I was seven.

  4. I was actually so sad when Disney closed. I just feel like it's always a place where I felt happy no matter what age I was. Now that it's open, I want to go but I'm still nervous it's too much of a risk with the amount of people that would be there...

  5. I wouldn’t go to Disney right now, although I do have very fond memories of Magic Kingdom. Everytime I go there it reignites the wonder I felt as a child.

Film awards like the Oscars often have a “best-animated film” category, and this is dumb. It’s like having a “best live-action” award. It’...
