DEBATE TIME
Tonight is the highly anticipated presidential debate. It was supposed to be the third debate, but Trump got COVID and did not want to do a debate virtually so the second debate was canceled. In such a high-stakes election everyone is going to be watching the debate tonight.
While reading the news the morning I was intrigued to learn that the moderators are able to mute the presidential candidates' mics. I personally think that this is so necessary after watching the screaming match at the last debate.
As a voter, it was disheartening not to be able to clearly distinguish the presidential candidates’ answers to questions as their opponent kept screaming to get their point across. Especially for voters who are in the middle, the debate would not have persuaded them to vote for either candidate.
Therefore, I now have hope that this will be a much calmer debate due to this mic modification. Also because there was so much negative feedback from the last debate from both Republicans and Democrats alike I believe the candidates will make more of an effort to control themselves. Hopefully, they will maintain their composure better and act more respectable.
I was more impressed by the Vice Presidential debate than the first presidential debate. Kamala Harris and Mike Pence showed much more respect towards one another and gave each other much more clear speaking time than Biden and Trump.
I am very excited to see the outcome of the debate tonight.
What are your predictions for tonight’s debate?

ReplyDeleteHi Gabe! You may recall that actual political anything gets you an F for a particular assignment. Change it. Now.
DeleteSarah, you did a great job summing up the debate and what to expect/your excitement while leaving it completely non-partisan. Great job! Did you enjoy the debate itself? I thought it was much better than the first one!
