Yakov Wahnich Week 6 - Game 5 Isn't Looking Great For The Heat...

Game 5 is this Friday night! For those of you that don’t know, the NBA finals will continue this Friday evening, as the Lakers look to win the championship and the Heat look to extend the series. LeBron James is now, once again, only one win away from his 4th NBA championship. Even though I was born in LA, I have been a Heat fan since I moved here and I hope to see the Heat win the next 3 games to secure the chip. I do, however, think that will be quite difficult for them since two of their best players are out with injuries and on top of that, the games are being regulated by blind referees.

I have never been a supporter of needless hate. I don’t even follow sports that closely, but as I have watched this series, I’ve recognized how blatantly obvious it is that the refs are most definitely bias towards the Lakers and/or visually impaired. Take a look at these clips, both from Game 4 on Tuesday.

In this clip, Jimmy Butler drives on Alex Caruso, and as Caruso flops on contact, the refs call an offensive foul on BUTLER. Caruso exaggerated the hit and drew a foul on Butler, which just looked like normal contact as Butler drove for a layup. Now watch this next clip…

The SAME exact thing happened in the same exact game, but in this clip, LeBron drove for a layup and as he hip-checked Tyler Herro, the refs must have been busy watching another game because they didn’t call ANYTHING on LeBron. Now, I may be biased towards the Heat, and maybe I missed something from a different angle, but watch these clips, in which almost the exact same thing happens, and tell me why the referees made a different call for each! Same layup, same offensive foul, same flop, but different players and for that reason, different call. This is just an example of the many referee calls that seem to favor LeBron and the Lakers. I am not a sports analyst, so I most definitely could be missing something, but comparing those two clips with the differing verdicts is concrete evidence of at least ONE biased call by the referees. So, if the Lakers don't win this series with their all-star scorers or Top 5 defender Anthony Davis, they can rest assured that the referees will have their back and ensure the win for the Lakers.

  1. I have never seen the referees be as bad as they have been this playoffs. Sometimes it is hard to watch how bad they are, and that's if they are actually trying to ref fairly. Whether or not we win the championship I feel good with our season. Yes, I wanted it really badly, but we were short-handed against two of the top 5 players in the NBA. Let's hope we can pull of a miracle.

  3. Ya honestly throughout the whole playoffs, the refs have been doing a terrible job. Plays that are obvious fouls are not looked at, and on the other hand bad fouls being called that could easily be overturned with a replay. I've noticed that it seems as though the refs are always against the Heat. But, we've been proving that we are above that by making it as far as we are. Let's see if we can pull off a comeback to win the chip.
