Zach Klein week 8 - TUA TIME

The Miami Dolphins enter week 7, their bye week, with a record of 3-3. Even though they have now won 2 games in a row, the headline for the team is rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tua was the favorite to win the Heisman at Alabama until he had a major hip injury, which some said would end his career. In the previous NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Tua at 5th overall to hopefully be the quarterback of the franchise, despite his injury concern. Just yesterday The Dolphins announced their decision to start Tagovailoa at quarterback in week 8 after their bye. Many thought this was a surprising decision since starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had been playing pretty well overall. He had led an okay team to a record of 3-3 with no blowout losses. It seemed like he had momentum going for the team just outside the playoffs after 6 weeks. Last Sunday in a blowout game against the Jets, Tua was able to come in for the last possession of the game. Fitzpatrick was very excited for the rookie to get some playing time, although he did not know that it could be his last time playing on the field for the Dolphins. Fitzpatrick expressed his emotions after hearing that Tua was named the starter. He said he was heartbroken and shocked to hear the news. Fitzpatrick said that after hearing the news, “[he] basically got fired and [his] day of work consisted of [him] in zoom meetings listening to the guy that fired [him]. And locked in a spaced-out room with [his] replacement.” Fitzpatrick, the 16-year veteran, says that he understands the team is moving towards their quarterback of the future, but it will be tough for him to process. Fitzpatrick 'shocked' and 'heartbroken' by the Dolphins decision to demote him

I am excited for Tua to play for the Dolphins to witness his potential in the NFL, but at the same time, I feel bad for Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick doesn't deserve to be benched as he lead the Dolphins to a 3-3 record with a two-game winning streak, but Dolphins fans are very excited to watch their franchise quarterback play in aqua. It’s TUA TIME in Miami.

  2. This matchup against Aaron Donald and the Rams' front will show us how durable Tua is. We know he can throw but can he survive?

  3. I'm really excited about Tua, but I'm hesitant about the idea of throwing away Fitzpatrick. As Josh said, Tua hasn't really been tested enough. Let's hope against hope that it's a good decision. The Phins could use one of those.

  4. I've been looking forward to Tua getting his shot at QB ever since he was drafted. Hopefully he wasn't overhyped and he actually pays off.

  5. The term "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" should apply here. Why switch a quarterback that is doing a fine job? Some risks are worth taking however. Only time will tell if the dolphins made the right choice.
