Shalom it is Gabriel Winter here again and today's subject is how pointless school is and how horrible the way in which we teach students has become. Students have it the worst today than they have had it in history. We are given so much work that is busy work and pointless and yet we are expected to have a life. I am personally not a fan of the way that we are taught because we are given an extreme amount of work during the day and in classes and then when we finally get to go home and unwind we are forced to do stupid assignments that do not further my education. I am all for educating people and intellectualism but honestly I do not enjoy books and reading or learning about the environment and how we are overpopulating yet here I am a man who wants to become a farmer learning about irrelevant information like how to identify skills in poetry when I will 100% not become a poet. I would be okay learning about stats and enviro and English if it were given to us without an extreme amount of work and pressure but that is not the case. I would not even be taking a single one of these classes if it wouldn't look bad on my college applications. We are expected to take AP classes which are college level classes and yet last time I checked we are not in college. Why should I have to take these classes in high school when I should be learning things at a high school level. Anyways The system is bogus and the way that we are taught (including every other school) is ridiculous. Busy work is not something that should be looked over by teachers and we should not be spending more time on homework and studying a night then we should be spending doing things that are actually fun and will further us in life. Learning about Frankenstein cannot help me figure out how to do taxes or how to care for my family financially unless I want to be a librarian.

Personally I think one of the biggest problems with our education is that it cares more about achievement than learning. Whenever we're told that we are expected to do something in school, it's value as a resume filler is usually emphasized more than any intrinsic value it might have. Also consider how much of what we learn ceases to be relevant after its test. Tests are supposed to be tools to measure what we learn, but instead they've become the reason we learn.
ReplyDeleteI think there is a big problem with our education system as a whole. School these days is just about getting good grades so we can get into a good college, but we aren't actually learning. When we have a test we just memorize and cram the information just to be forgotten a week later. Shouldn't we actually be learning.
