As I sit in my living room I see my happily married parents, my adorable brother, and my sweet boyfriend. I think, if my world were to stay like this, the future is brighter than ever.
But, It’s not “my” world...
There is humanity as a whole to consider and the earth that we live on. I do not get to stay in my bubble forever. It’s easy to say that the world can choose to be happy and peaceful, but the world does not seem to be moving away from darkness. Humanity is stubborn and filled with narcissism and polarization. So while there may be light and happiness around us, it is not enough to take over the darkness that people project on the world.
For example, technology is one way that makes the world darker. While it’s exciting that the future may hold flying cars, robots, and inventions that will do everything for us, is that a good thing to lose touch and contact of being in control? Even today with cell phones people can not seem to hold a conversation without looking at their phones and texting social media. People prefer to text than talk on the phone because they do not know how to communicate on the spot.
Another example is politics. Not talking specifically, but the political world holds so many opinions that once stayed in politics, but now are taking over so much that people are befriending others due to political beliefs. Violence and brutality are sadly a way that people have decided to deal with things.
Life is unpredictable, but if there is no change in humanity and society, I believe that the future is darker than today.
Do you think the future is brighter or darker than today?
Do you think it is possible to change humanity for the better?

I feel like your right but it is really sad to think about so maybe Ill just ignore it ... or better yet actually accept it and help do something about it. I dont like the pessimistic outlook :(( maybe technology will improve the world even more, but I do agree that there is only so much the world can be improved by technology before it starts to be destroyed

DeleteLiann you just gave me an existential crisis. I get what you mean though, it can be really hard to see the positive in the future when doom feels like it's constantly around us. But I think that those are the most important times to look for the good. Things may feel like they just keep getting worse but there is always at least a little positivity to be found. Plus if things really get as bad as they can, then eventually they'll have to get better again! :)
