Gabriel Winter- Week 16- Outdoorsy

As many people probably know I am a very outdoorsy person. I am either covered in dirt and other gross things from fishing or I am soaked from jumping in the ocean. My shirts are full of holes from getting fish hooks stuck in them and my hands are cut up from handling fish and/or working on my boat. From first look I may not seem the type of person who likes to be outdoors but if you know me you know that I love nature, and outdoors, and off roading, and boating, and fishing, and much more.

I find it very sad that kids now a days are attached to their phones and the tv and have no reason to go outside. Kids these days are more sophisticated because of the internet and now have a direct link to all of the information that they need. The only information that they are missing is the one that is just outside their door, that would be the information the outdoors teaches you. Kids are just not doing kids things any more. When I was little I couldn't walk three feet without seeing one of my friends outside playing with chalk or jumping rope or so many other activity's. Now the streets are empty and there is no one in the driveways. If kids don't go outside and get bumps, scrapes, cuts, and bruises then how will they know what the limit is. Kids these days are not pushing the limits and therefore they are not as educated in the way of the world and how to correctly handle all that it has to offer.

  1. It also saddens me to see this happening...My kids will definitely not be on electronics all day, but to see kids at the dinner tables with iPads makes me so mad. I have also noticed that related to this, less children are playing sports--especially girls. It is very sad since that was such a big part of my life, I couldn't imagine not having tried at least one sport.

  2. I agree. It is very upsetting. I know personally I would rather be at the beach or the park than sit at home watching netflix. But for many teenagers, they would rather spend hours on tik tok. I hope that the next generation of teenagers will learn to love the outdoors as this is such an important part of growing up.

  4. When you said the thing about having dirt on you from being outside, all I could think about is your fingernails. Oh Gabe, I'm gonna miss you next year (unless I go to Miami)

  5. I know exactly what you mean Gabe. When I was a kid I spent every day after school outside playing with friends, we almost never watched TV! It was the absolute best. Nowadays I super miss camping and hiking and being outdoors. All kids deserve to have those fun experiences just messing around outside.

  6. It is so sad that this is happening in the world. When I was growing up my brother and I were outside everyday. I think one year we went swimming almost everyday after school. Now kids do non of that, and it shows when it comes to the rising high school and middle school sports teams. Nowadays the kids are much less athletic and it is most likely due to the fact that all they do is sit at home on their devices. Another horrible thing that is effecting the children is whenever I go out to eat there are always children watching tv or playing games on an ipad.

  7. Its honestly kinda gross to sit inside all day. Like personally, I try to spend as little time as possible on the internet and instead, I try my best to be present in life and outside.

Mattan Masri- Week 16: Animation is not a Genre

Film awards like the Oscars often have a “best-animated film” category, and this is dumb. It’s like having a “best live-action” award. It’...
