Liann Rozenberg Week 1 - Road Trip to South Carolina

This summer my family and I decided to take a road trip to South Carolina. We did not want to fly, so we very bravely decided to drive 10 hours. Our friends from New York drove down as well, and we met at the beach house we rented in Myrtle beach. What was supposed to be a 10-hour drive ended up being 12 hours because we stopped for food way too many times. When we finally arrived at the house, we immediately wanted to go to the beach. The house was beautiful; it was three stories and I slept in a room with two other girls. We changed and went to the beach. The sky was absolutely clear with not a single cloud, unlike Florida, but just like Israel. The sand was so smooth and there was not a single piece of seaweed in the water, which was so surprising because after spending most of my summer at the beach in Florida, it was something I had never seen. The second day there we rented a boat and went through the intercoastal there. It was way different than Florida's intercostals; the houses were built different and the people were so different as well. The third day it was raining, so we decided to go to Myrtle beaches most popular attraction: mini-golfing. I personally do not like it; it's fun at first but gets pretty boring after a while. The last two days we spent at the beach, and while a very sad departure from our friends, I was excited to go home.

While an undeniably fun getaway, I was kind of surprised to see that nobody followed any Corona regulations. Everywhere we went nobody had a mask. Not only in South Carolina, but also when we stopped in Georgia. People were pretty selfish, you could say, disobeying most signs.

Would you go on a family vacation in a pandemic?

  3. I also went on a family vacation during a pandemic! People seemed to think it was crazy although it really was not a big deal wearing a mask and sanitizing on the plane. However, similar to your story, people commonly disobeyed most signs of social distancing. We were smart that we took precautions even on vacation!
