The National Football League had its first COVID-19 outbreak during this past week of games. The Tennessee Titans had 8 players along with some staff members contract the virus. Their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed for week 8 and this week counts as both teams bye week. Other players around the league have contracted the virus, but this is the first game that had to be postponed for a later week. NFL players have been tested for the virus daily and when teams are playing in a different city they are quarantined with their team. For the most part, this strategy has been effective as most players have not contracted the virus and ones who haven’t spread it much. This all changed when the Titans had 8 players with the virus. If this happens to other teams along with the Titans the NFL season could be in jeopardy. Many Americans would be pissed because they look forward to watching football every Sunday and playing fantasy football. Personally, I would be very bummed if the season gets canceled.
This weekend it seems like the NFL is on track to have every game, but a COVID-19 outbreak could occur at any moment for a team. A quarter way through the regular season just 1 COVID-19 outbreak may be a good sign. This may be a season like no other as currently, no fans are allowed in some stadiums while other stadiums are allowing around 1/5 of their normal capacity, but hopefully, the season can be completed fully.
What do you think? Will the NFL season be stopped short or will it be a complete season?
