So, this week I started watching a new show. This show is called Rhythm and Flow, and you can watch it on Netflix. It’s sort of a reality show that follows upcoming rap artists through a competition to become the “next big thing” in the rap industry. There’s about 8 or 10 different rounds and each one comes with completing a new task, but at the end of each round people get sent home. So, it starts off with the auditions. Then, whoever makes it through the auditions is given the opportunity to fly out to LA and continue participating in the competition. Auditions were held in Los Angeles, the Bronx, Atlanta, and Chicago. Each of these cities were picked because that is where each celebrity judge is from. The celebrity judges for this show are TI, Cardi B, and Chance the Rapper. Of course, they are all huge names in the music industry, and are now trying to find the next rap superstar. It’s a really interesting show to watch because you see that each person is coming into the competition with their own story and struggles. You get a sense of the different music cultures from each of these cities and how the people that come from there connect through their music. I’m really enjoying this show so far and it’s only the first season. I think they couldn’t film anything new this year because of Covid, but I’m super excited to find out the winner of this season and hopefully keep watching when new episodes come out! If you like rap music or are interested in learning more about the industry, I definitely recommend you watch it.
