IM FINALLY A SPORTS PERSON!!! - Zoey Eisenband week 13

As you all know, I am NOT a sports person. In fact, I am not even knowledgeable about sports enough to know that the correct terminology is “athlete” and not “sports person.” While most of you spent your time after school playing soccer, basketball, or tennis, I spent my time in rehearsal, singing and acting and NOT being athletic. In the past, I've played two seasons of soccer and ran one season of cross country (which I hated). But I basically just did them for the credits to graduate. Some of you might also know that as much as I am not an athlete, I am also not a planner. So it is very Zoey Eisenband of me to not plan out how I am going to get enough sports credits to graduate, which led me to freak out once I realized I needed to get one more sports credit by the end of May.

And there it is, ladies and gentlemen! That is how I found my brand new passion… Basketball!! I owe it all to my dearest friend Dana Levine for jokingly telling me one day that I should join the team because they desperately need one more player in order to play in the season. When she first asked me, I laughed at her obscene joke. But then I actually began to consider her offer, especially since I needed the credit and it is such a short season this year. I don’t know what came over me, but I actually accepted her offer!

Now it has been a week since our first practice (omg I almost wrote the word “rehearsal”-- again, I am not a sports person I’m so sorry.) and I actually feel like I am getting the hang of things. Coach Lenny is a great coach. He understands that I have never held a basketball in my life before now and that I am trying… so he just corrects me when I mess up. I think he can sense that I am actually trying to improve, rather than just doing it for the credit, so I’m sure he appreciates that. As for my teammates, some have been supportive… and others not so much (***Amy Kraft laughs at me any time I do literally anything). But despite the lack of support from some people *cough cough Amy,* I'm really having fun trying out this new sport. Sooo if anyone wants to come to my first game on Tuesday (@ dkja) and see how funny I probably look when I run, you are welcome!

  1. Wow Zoey I'm so proud that you ended up doing basketball! I also got the offer to play from your teammate, Amy Kraft, but I decided to pass. (I just get too nervous to play in the games if I'm being completely honest). I did play basketball for Lenny for a couple years though, and it was fun while it lasted loll.
