FUN FACT: BABIES ARE NOT BORN WITH NOSES - blog 17 Zoey Eisenband

Why don’t babies have noses? I never really realized this until recently, but babies literally do not have nose bridges. They just have bumps sticking out of their faces with no BRIDGE!!!! YES, you heard me right: The space between their eyes is flat. Like the earth. I noticed this weird fact when I was going through my baby photos trying to find photos for the yearbook (no, I havent submitted them yet. I am aware it was due last November). In all of the photos, my nose just looks like it is emerging out of my face. NO BRIDGE. I noticed the same thing in my brother’s nose (He’s 4). Okay, I understand that this could just be some weird family genetics thing and we could just be born with really flat noses that we grow into, but I really think this is common among all people.

Update- Okay I just googled it and it is true. All babies have “pug” noses. There are literal studies done on the growth of human noses. Now that I think about it, babies would look SO weird and scary if they did have a nose bridge. I realize now that this probably wasn’t a good blog topic idea, but it is a good excuse to show my flat-nosed baby photos. Leave a comment down below if you think I should put any of these in the yearbook (help, I can’t choose).

SERIOUSLY, WHERE ARE OUR NOSES!?!?!?

WHERE IS MY NOSE, ONCE AGAIN?

MY BROTHER ALSO HAD NO NOSE.

  2. Now that you mention it, I don't think this is something I've ever even noticed! You're probably really observant. I guess my brain has become so used to looking at the little bridgeless button noses (or "pug" noses) of babies that it just skipped over this fact. And I honestly thought this was pretty interesting (I never know what kind of post to expect next from you! I feel like your personality shines through your writing, so these are always fun to read). Also, the baby pictures are so cute :)

  3. Thank you for bestowing this knowledge upon me, albeit I kind of wish I never read this. Like Sienna, I think this is one of those things I just haven't noticed because I'm so used to seeing baby faces, but now I can't unsee it and it just looks so wrong in photos to not see the nose bridge. Hey, at least you were a cute kid though!
