Ariel Magin- Week 21 Greta Van Fleet

Oh my, my my, my my, ooohhhhh…. I just found a new band this week called Greta Van Fleet and I can’t believe it. This might be the first time I’ve found a new artist which I listen to consistently that began this century. Great Van Fleet formed in 2012, which is very recent. I enjoy their style, even though many people claim they’re a Led Zeppelin cover band. I love Zeppelin, and if there’s a new band producing something even remotely close to that now, then I’m pleased. Anyways, they aren’t complete rip-offs. They genuinely have their own sound and are still finding their way. The experience of seeing a band evolve is one I’ve never experienced before. I’ve seen how the early and late Beatles differ and how Kiss adapted over the decades, but that’s a simple click of the button. I have to actually wait for each new song and album which is much more rewarding.

One of the coolest things about GVF is that three out of the four of them are brothers. Only the drummer is unrelated, but anyways he’s a close friend. I’ve always wanted to start a garage band with family members. My brother is too young and my dad is too busy, and they’re both not musicians lol. Maybe in college, I’ll start or join a band. One thing is for sure, Greta Van Fleet has and will inspire a whole generation of musicians just as so many bands did before them.
